Friday's Big Idea

This evening you heard messages by Mike Cummings and John Franklin. And while there were lots of good things to put into practice, there was one thing someone said in a message, a prayer or a song that hit you square in the heart. As a result, something's going to change in your personal prayer life and/or in the life of your church.

What was it?

Mike Cummings...

How to Rejoice When Your Joy is Drained.
2 Cor. 1:12-14

Have a pure conscience even when others are working against you.

Know that the grace of God is currently working in you.

You need a Sabbath - a time away to enjoy God and get a good look at Him.

Look toward the day of the Lord.

John Franklin...

God is looking for a people who will get on their knees and seek to hear His voice.

1 Kings 19:9

Wind...Earthquake...Fire
How can God not be in something that He is causing?

We can be in the middle of God's activity and not hear His voice; not know He's working.

We can be in a relationship with God and not know what He's up to in our lives.

What is the "still small voice"?

Most Christians do not have a significant regular encounter with God and His still small voice.

How did David know it wasn't God's will to kill a sleeping Saul? David knew exactly what to do. He would rather have God than the throne.

Most of American churches have not heard the still small voice. If we did we would be behaving differently.

Contrast Elijah with Jonah.
Jonah had a divided heart. How can you fear God and run from God at the same time?

Elijah never had a divided heart.

A divided heart loves God w/o stipulation.
